CREATIVE INDIVIDUALITY AN ACTING WORKSHOP IN THE MICHAEL CHEKHOV TECHNIQUE SATURDAY JULY 3, 9AM-6PM
According to Michael Chekhov, the 'Creative Individuality' is the source of the artist's talent, the force that continually drives the actor to create, to communicate reality in an individual way. It's like the Greek 'daimon', the higher self or driving spirit. It feels like you and more than you at the same time. Making the Creative Individuality conscious can open a trickle of inspiration into a flowing stream.
It enables the actor to
make contact with the
audience
see the dynamic forces at work in a play,
connect with contemporary life, and
be sure of the
unique, personal contribution they make to life through their work.
This
workshop offers a unique sequence of exercises to connect deeply with,
explore and apply your Creative Individuality. It's suitable for serious
actors at all levels, including experienced professionals.
ABOUT MICHAEL CHEKHOV
Michael Chekhov is known in
Russia as ‘the acting genius of the century.’ Stanislavski called him
‘my most brilliant pupil,’ but Chekhov took what he learned from
Stanislavski and went further.
His techniques are the
pure gold for the actor. They free the body, heart and imagination,
bypassing the analytical mind to speak directly to the heart of your
actor’s nature, helping you to perform as if you are continually
improvising, and empowering you to create your own unique magic. Putting
Chekhov's ideas into practice can awaken your whole being, free your
intuition and create performances that are physical, rigorously
well-crafted, full of life, and wildly imaginative.
Compared
to other methods, you can learn and apply Chekhov’s quickly and easily.
Clint Eastwood, Antony Hopkins, Jack Nicholson and Marilyn Monroe and
countless others have drawn on Chekhov's wisdom.
